Some basics you’ll need to set up a home lab:
Rubber gloves – kitchen washing up gloves do just fine.

A thermometer or two. Get one with a scale up to 50 degrees Celcius. You can buy them from Vanbar Photographics in Melbourne for about $10.

A timer. This type is available from Dick Smith for about $20, but a watch will do if necessary.

Milk bottles. Empty and well rinsed.

A medicine cup – get one from a pharmacy.

A funnel. The base of the funnel needs to be small enough to fit snugly in a piece garden hose.

Safety specs or safety goggles. Get them from a hardware store. These are important for using the bleach. A dust mask is also advisable when mixing up the bleach.

An apron. See if this bloke Wayne will lend you his bbq apron! I use a butcher’s apron bought from a catering supplies shop.
